Peaceful Valley

Today I started a series of paintings, thanks to some welcomed encouragement! Several canvases were brushed with white gesso, over a variety of textures and old paintings that have occupied a corner in our den. My husband created a lovely space, much like a studio, for me to begin the new series of works. No excuses now! ;p  Here’s more of a glimpse at the direction of the upcoming series of paintings. Still a bit of work ahead!

I’ll be sure to post a finished product. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are enjoying this fall weather as much as I am.

Both of these were inspired by images from the Victorian Era. Reading books from this time period sparked an interest in the fashion of their time.

The rough draft painting has come along! I’ve added light hues of blue, cream, and gold. The last step will be pumping up the colors, perhaps adding one or two and then lobbing lots of transparent gel medium atop for a glossy, thick finish. Funny, it feels like I’m sharing secret beauty tips!

Nature inspires

I am using raw materials and working to bring light to this vision of next paintings. I have also created a new space to track my inspiration and share with you all! Below is the start to several pieces that will have a rustic look, but similar style to previous work. I’m deciding between one or two color and hints of others. You could call me a minimalist at heart, bringing one idea to surface at a time. This piece is only a few steps away from finished.
